Cross Country Teams Compete in Zaxby’s Open at Tusculum

Greenville, TN: Friday, September 9

The cross country teams headed north to Tusculum in TN for their second meet of the season on a hot hilly course. 

The women ran at 6 pm and worked hard on the challenging 5K course.  For the second week in a row, Kiersten Keith-Pedersen led the women's team running 23:58 with Isabella Storniolo close behind in a time of 24:15. The next two Owls in were also only seconds apart with Lydia Sterling in at 25:44 and Miriam Kadens on her heels at 25:51.  Emme Mcmanus rounded out the top five for the team running 26:29 and Ellie Goldstein finished soon after at 27:53.

The men's team had a new leader this week with Eric Vanderford running 17:15 for 10th place overall.  Julian Rohn-Cappellaro was 15th, running 17:41 for the 5K.  Sam Colston ran 19:39, Seth Walker 20:23, and Jonah Felde completed the top five runners for the team finishing in 21:43.  Bassam Shawamreh, who is running his first season of cross country, was next in at 24:32 and Malcolm Mitchell-Bennett finished things off for the team with a time of 30:06.

The teams are working hard and looking forward to running at Southern Wesleyan University Warrior Invitational in SC on Friday, September 13.
