#5 Women's Basketball Falls To Belmont-Abbey College

Belmont, N.C. - The Lady Owls finished the regular season with a loss to NCAA D2 Belmont Abbey 81-54.  The Lady Owls end the year 14-13 and ranked #5 in the nation.

Danasia Dumas led the Owls with 23 points.  She was followed by Amber Godfrey with 9.

The Owls struggled to connect in the second quarter and fell behind by 30.  However, the Owls came out and had great defensive pressure and won the second half 34-31.

"Tonight we saw the difference between our level and this level. The speed of the game is so much quicker.  Belmont Abbey was quick up and down the floor but also moved the ball quick on offense. It was a good learning experience for us as we get ready for our conference tournament and possible playoff berth.  We won't see a team this talented down the post season stretch.  I am proud of how we fought and hustled in the second half especially after such an emotional senior night game the night before," stated head coach Robin Martin.

The Owls are set to play Johnson & Wales University Friday, February 22nd. Tip-off is scheduled for 2:30 P.M.
