Swannanoa, N.C. -- Warren Wilson College has named Joe Scachetti as their new Head Men's Soccer Coach. Scachetti will become the third coach for the Owls in the last 20 years.

Scachetti has years of experience in coaching, spanning back to 2013, when he graduated from University of California, Los Angeles. From 2013-14, Scachetti served as an assistant coach at Whittier College. During the 2015-16 seasons, Scachetti served as the goalkeeping coach for both the men's and women's programs at UNC Asheville, and was the recruiting coordinator for the Bulldog women's program. During that time he was also the Director of Goalkeeping for Highlands Football Club. Prior to becoming the head coach for the Owls, Scachetti served as a volunteer assistant coach for the University of North Carolina Tar Heels Men's Soccer Team. During his stint with the Tar Heels the team reached the 2016 NCAA College Cup and won the ACC's Coastal Division.

Scachetti was also the Goalkeeper Coach for LA Galaxy Pre-Academy and LA Galaxy South Bay, and coached at his alma mater, West Torrance High School, with the boys (assistant coach) and girls program (goalkeeper coach).

"I am very honored to be starting here at Warren Wilson College. I want to thank our athletic director, Joni Williamson, and the rest of the staff for welcoming me on campus and bringing me on board. I am very eager to get started and serve our College and Student Activities through athletics, education, community, and service," stated new head coach Joe Scachetti.

Joni Williamson, Director of Athletics and Adventure Sports, exclaimed, "I am extremely excited to announce Joe Scachetti as our next head men's soccer coach and athletics crew supervisor.  Coach Scachetti's playing and collegiate coaching experience, strong skill set, passion, knowledge of the sport, and dedication to the student-athlete experience will truly help continue to grow the men's soccer program. Additionally, he has high integrity, is a great communicator, is very genuine and has a strong alignment with the mission of the collage that excites me. He exemplifies exactly what the search committee was looking for in hiring our next head coach. He will be a fantastic addition to the Warren Wilson Community and I look forward to seeing the men's soccer program flourish under his direction."
