Saturday in Johnson City, TN, the Warren Wilson College women's swimming team fell to both Milligan College (59-110) and Campbellsville University (55-103), while the men's team from WWC also was bested by Milligan (43-122).  While there where many solid swims and close races, Amelia Hubbard was the only individual to win events, taking both 100-meter Butterfly and the 200-meter Freestyle in the slightly longer racing course.

Typically, college events are contested in a 25-yard pool, but with the additional seven feet per length of this 25-meter course, the opposing teams had the advantage, as they both train in the longer pool.  After swimming from behind and taking the lead with just 100 meters remaining, sophomore Keven Bordenave (Daytona Beach, FL) was out-touched in the 400-meter freestyle, and Jonathon Bland had a nail-biter in the 100-meter breaststroke before being nipped by .10 of a second.

The Owls have two weeks to continue their preparation for Mars Hill on Sunday, Feb 8th at 3pm, and the Appalachian Swimming Conference Championships on Feb 20-21, at Marshall University, WV.
