11.02.2009 - [Men's Swimming]
The Warren Wilson College swimming team opened their season Saturday at
NCAA Division-II Mars Hill College, falling to both the men's (198-39)
and women's (208-45) team, as well as the equally challenging women's
squad from Lenoir Rhyne University (202-52).
Highlights of the meet include a second-place finish in the 100-yard
Breaststroke for men's team captain Johnathon Bland's, finishing in
1:07.59, and a 40.17 second-place for sophomore Maddy Dillon in the
50-yard Breaststroke against Mars Hill.
This was the first collegiate swimming meet ever for 11 of the 20 swimmers competing this season, and big improvements are being made weekly for this young team.
The Owls travel to the University of the South this Friday and Saturday for the 9th annual Sewanee Invitational.
