Swannanoa, N.C. -- The Warren Wilson College women's soccer team faced off against John Wesley this weekend in a fight-to-the-end game, losing 4-3 to the Lions.

The Owls got on the scoreboard first when senior Melina Lozano drove the ball into the box and found the back of the net. The Owls would continue to put the pressure on the Lions' backline but unable to convert their opportunities. The Lions had their own opportunities and took advantage of a handball in the box, converting the penalty making the score 1-1. The Lions took the momentum and added another goal shortly after to take the lead into halftime.

The second half was a back-and-forth half. The Lions scored first making it 3-1 but the Owls attacked in numbers and were able to score two beautiful goals to tie the game from junior Jocelyn Hartung and senior Melina Lozano. With the game level 3-3 and the Owls committing numbers forward the Lions scored the winning goal with three minutes remaining in the game.

The Owls outshot the Lions 14-13 and each team has 3 corner kicks. The Owls hit the road this week on Tuesday to take on Johnson University and then return home on Saturday for Homecoming. They take on Johnson & Wales at 1pm.
