The Warren Wilson College cross country team opened up their 2009 season at the Montreat College Kickoff Invitational.  Both teams faired well as each  recorded 4th place honors for the event. 

Leading the way for the men was Tal Gold who finished in 12th place with a time of 23:29.11.  The women had seven runners finish in the top 27 lead by sophomore Aimee Shafer's 11th place finish at a time of 22:58.42.

The Owls compete next at the Berea College invitational September 19.  Race time is scheduled for 10:00 am.

Other finishes for the Owls men were Phelan O'Connor (20th, 25:22.44), Brenden Kelley (25th, 29:04), and Ben Gould (26th, 29:21).

The women had their final six participants finish within three minutes of each other.  Other runners who competed were Colleen Vetti (17th, 24:12.38), Maggie Friedline (19th, 24:15.36), Erin Pesut (24:15.72), Kate O'Mara (25th, 24:59.47), Hope Davis (26th, 25:46.1), and Tabitha Ndungu (27th, 25:46.2).
